i read there have been 7500 licenses issued by the publisher for that song. But i think the Troggs version is the most recognizable?

Yeah. Troggs is definitely on point. It must have felt strange to have a song that wasn't so hot licensed by so many people and turned into a music icon. Like everyone knows that song. And Hendrix recorded it, many famous musicians.
