First PC
Got my first personal computer, a TI-994A - even though I had been dabbling in computers/software for a while at work - primarily with the HP-85; which we used for process control in the microwave semiconductor manufacturing lab. I had fixed enough CP/M machines and ADM-3A terminals to supply a small nation. Still I had to drool over the Commodore machines. They had up to 4 disk drives (available separately) and could run CP/M. The TI box turned out to be horrible. Yeah, a cool processor; really fast, but to do anything with it required a $100 cartridge. Anything. Get out the checkbook. It takes about twenty cartridges to create a somewhat useful box. But the killer was that it had no disks. Nada. All you had for storage was a cassette tape interface at 110 baud.
