Recall some of my ranting about drawing lines in the sand?

Recall some of my ranting about drawing lines in the sand? Surprise, that's what Sharon wants to do now. This from a man whose name could be synonymous with sharin'. Basically we need to re-create something closely resembling the Berlin Wall so that Israel can have a secure border with the West Bank. Oh and Israel can't afford the 20 billion or so to accomplish it so they want us to pay for it. Hope Bush has the cojones to just say no.

Hmmm, that scene of the tanks rolling into a ghetto. People being killed by the hundreds or more. Buildings being razed. It all looked eerily familiar. Where have I seen that before?

Received the latest quarterly report for the City of Sunnyvale. Fascinating reading - especially since it contains the water quality report. But what struck me was the master plan where they laid out the city council vision du jour of creating a downtown out of thin air. Sunnyvale never had a downtown. So they destroyed the largest commerical enterprise in town (the mall) in order to use the space to create a downtown in its place. That accounts for all the high-rises going up in those few blocks. Monkey Wards is being replaced by Target. 'Tis an interesting experiment. But the reason the old tenants of the mall left was more because they raised the rents astronomically. So the city fathers aren't just trying to create a downtown, they're trying to create a downtown with deep pockets. That's a bit harder to pull off.

I wonder who thought up operation snipe. Think they're sending the Brits on a snipe hunt? The snipe as you surely know is a small stupid bird that will run into a shopping bag if coerced. Many a pre-pubescent lad is initiated into manhood by participating in a snipe hunt where they run around the woods yelling 'here snipe' while snapping their fingers in a traditional manner on a paper shopping bag. They're out there - ready to run into the bag. Just keep it up a few hours longer...

But you who live on dreams, you are better pleased with the sophistical
reasoning and frauds of talkers about great and uncertain matters than
those who speak of certain and natural matters, not of such lofty nature.
