Along with the rain comes the ants, seeking refuge where it's dry. I have to admit no remorse using biological nerve agents to massacre hundreds of thousands of these innocent refugees.

Another thing that came with the rain is the chance to evaluate the drainage system I put in the back yard. Well, good news and bad news. The good news is for the first time in twenty years the water isn't draining underneath the house. The bad news is that there's more water draining than anticipated and I can't use the backyard as a drain bed as planned. 1/3 of the yard is submerged right now. But the water is at least away from the house. I knew that if this happened I'd have to chop up some more concrete and put a drainage trench along the side of the house with a pipe to the street. Was hoping to spare the expense but now I know how much water I'm up against and it'll haveta' get done.
