Month two is now closed. Did OK. I'm debating whether to forego taking a salary for a third month. At this point the shoppe is self-sufficient; now to see if it can sustain me as well. Today it would be break-even. Think I'd like to pump it up just a wee bit more before I take the plunge. But the spigot of outside money is just a trickle now. The real test is what happens when I turn it off completely.
When AOL bought Netscape a few years ago, all the employees received a free AOL account. Well you had to give a credit card number but you were never billed. Can you guess where this is leading? I open my credit card statement and find out I'm now paying for AOL, which as you recall I wiped from my hard drive. Bastards. Then I have to call and endure a half hour of ads for version 7.0 before I can talk to a human and get this corrected. The gal was incredulous. You were an employee and you didn't find anything on the service you felt was useful enough to continue? Nope. She also offered me the obligatory 2/3 free months to change my mind. Nope, cancel completely, now. Done. What a hassle. But I also know that old AOL accounts never really die. At best they lie dormant. I'll probably have to cancel the credit card to make sure it doesn't pop up again a couple years from now.
