So I upgraded the laptop to RedHat 7.1.

So I upgraded the laptop to RedHat 7.1. That makes four nights in a row installing operating systems. I've had enough for now. Didn't get the USB network card working, but the sound card works now. Think I'll look for a wireless card that's compatible because I just don't care for having ugly cables hanging out the side; not to mention the possibility of surfing or checking mail from the back patio - which besides the bathrooms and laundry room is about the only place I can't at present.

Since I mentioned the Improvised Munitions Handbook (TM 31-210) in passing a month or two ago, it appears that it's now the number one search query leading to this site. Spooky. But in the interests in my personal amusement reading next year's Darwin awards, you can probably get your very own copy at FiringPin.COM. But don't bother. The book was written at the height of the Vietnam war and most of the material is presented in that context and has very little relevance today. And in case you're intrigued by the chapter on zip guns, did you know that over 97% of zip gun fatalities occur to the person holding the thing? But the same is true for the bombs. Have fun - oh, and all that stuff about smoking around gunpowder, it's just a silly rumour. :-)

Yesterday I saw the high clouds and was debating whether to put the top up on the car and bring all the tools in from the back yard - just in case. Nah, they were high clouds, not rain clouds. Silly me... Now it's pouring and it was a mad scramble to get everything under cover and to top it off the sprinkler (just now) kicked on.
