Well yes, I have spent some time trying to read in my old disks. Oh, what cruelty. The new operating system wouldn't recognize my old SCSI card. Been digging through the kernel trying to find out why. Perhaps one of my SCSI emulators was overwrtiting the SCSI stack? I disabled all of them and it still no workie. Ah, but they're invoked from the boot loader. RedHat has a new one. so I go check the online docs for it and find that my particular SCSI card is a known bug with the new grub. Fine, I'll just go back to lilo. Whaddya' know - the SCSI card comes right up... Oh and all of this was done whilst sitting in the back room at the store. The computer in question is at home behind a firewall. And I just over-wrote the first sector of the boot disk. Don't try this at home kids...
