By now you pretty much know I spent Sunday morning at the shoppe catching up on stuff. Went to a party this evening. With a married lady. Got introduced as "The husband couldn't make it. this is my friend Mike". Cool. Instant reputation - even though it's not nearly as sordid as these folks are imagining. Shhhh...

Suppose this is as good a time as any to talk about women and why I've never been married at 45. And I'd like to do it by talking about guitars. I own a dozen guitars at least. Not counting those I'm now selling at the store. Each one is different. They play different songs, they react to me and I react to them in different ways. Each is capable of beautiful music, but I tend to prefer to play certain things on certain guitars because well only one or two will make the song sound sweet. On the others it sounds contrived. But I have a lot of songs and face a dilemna because to play an entire repertoire requires combining the sounds of several different instruments. I have one - the Gibson Flying Vee; which comes close to being able to render the sounds of several; but not all, of the other instruments. But there's still no way it can take on the Martin bass guitar or the dobro. I've never found the Flying Vee woman and don't know that I would draw up an exclusivity arrangement even if I did. There are still songs that only sound good on a Martin D-18, serial number 2454887; and it's not for sale at any price. Sigh....
