No, I haven't configured the software yet...

No, I haven't configured the software yet... Had plenty of more important things to do.

This has been a remarkably strange few days. One of my former suppliers dropped by on Wednesday. I stopped buying guitars from him because they almost all broke. Think I told you that story. Anyway he walks in with a bunch of guitars and amps. No, not designer label stuff. Cheap, consumer grade bullshit guitars. Coincidentally the exact kind of thing my customers buy. Oh, and they're not hand-made in huts anymore. These are ISO-900X. They're all yours, he says. I owe you. Free. All you have to do is take them. I took them.

Then the newspaper calls. They screwed up, and my ad won't be running in the peninsula special flyer today. To make it up to me, they're going to run it all weekend in the regular paper. The difference is about half a million more potential readers for the same price. Uhm, ok...

My trumpet supplier called, the CEO of the company. I've stopped buying trumpets. I can buy the same trumpets at amazon cheaper than I can get them from the factory. I told 'em so. We agree, it's a problem, he says. So he offers me $100 off on my trumpets. That's significant. Even cheaper than some of the Chinese trumpet-shaped objects. Today I look and the trumpets in question have vanished from amazon. Gone. Next time you think that one e-mail can't make a difference.

Customer needs somebody to chat with. Works at Apple. You probably won't understand, but I work on the iTunes shop software. Internet stuff. Uhm, you mean like WebObjects? XML? SQL? That kind of stuff? Feature lists. Bug lists. Yeah, I know what you do...
