Change is strange.
Change is strange. The buzz has been going around for the last several days. Now it's official - Draper's is going out of business. That's a music store - my closest competitors to the north (actually west if you ignore the fact that directions in Silicon Valley are skewed). It's possible somebody could buy the joint, and I need to be sufficiently paranoid. But if they just close the doors it leaves a gaping hole. There's Gryphon and their acoustic instrument business. Then there's Gelb, the nearest rock-n-roll store to the north (west). But if you want a saxophone, the closest store will either be Sonica in Mountain View (me) or B-Street in San Mateo. There are quite a few school districts between Mountain View and San Mateo. All of them could be looking for band instruments next year. Maybe I shouldn't get out of the band instrument business quite yet...
