The pentagon is scrambling to find national guard troops to send to N'oleens to help stop the looting. They were only able to find a few hundred folks in the surrounding region. No big surprise. All the healthy troops are in Iraq. The cops are busy siphoning gas to keep their squad cars running and looting gun stores to keep other folks from doing so.

The word for today is anarchy - which is defined as "a state of lawlessness and disorder (usually resulting from a failure of government)".

Yes, there was a terrible calamity and there are some urgent issues to address. I'm not talking about the lack of drinking water and the looting and the sniper attacks on aid workers. There's no chance of success on any of these fronts until there is a resolution to the problem of the failure of government.
