Day of rest? Not today.
Day of rest? Not today. Spent most of the day getting a ceiling light in Bella's room. There was never one there before. The light switch controls a power outlet. As I've done in several rooms now, this means opening up the wall next to the outlet and fishing a new wire through. Rewire the socket, run the new cable to the new ceiling box. Oh yeah, and put in the ceiling box and fixture. I've almost got it down to a routine now, but that doesn't mean it takes less time. It just means I can methodically work through it without a lot of hassles.
Now only the laundry room still has the original ceiling fixture. All the others match. I was amused when I moved in, as you could easily tell what was the absolutely cheapest light fixture in the US over a period of twenty years. Lessee, this one was bottom of the barrel in 1986, from Taiwan. This one over here is circa 1992, from the first mainland invasion. And this one came with the house. Original equipment. I refer to it affectionately as the cheap contractor's globe. You've seen 'em before. Probably have one on your back door.
