Now this is hilarious...
Now this is hilarious... Most of my Code Red website hits in the last 24 hours are coming from Redmond. You'd think that McSoft would patch their own computers.
If this lasts much longer, I've been pondering the idea of writing a reverse worm to go back to the infected sites that are hitting mine and through the same hole - worm back in and disable code red and alert the administrator somehow. Probably wouldn't be that hard to write but I'm sure there are folks who could do it more efficiently than I can. This isn't unprecedented. There's the so-called "cheese" worm making its rounds through Unix boxes, plugging holes that were exploited by another recent virus. Some of the experts are denouncing it because it is in fact a worm and uses up machine resources to replicate itself. However the fact that it doesn't do any damage and closes the door on future virii gives it a thumbs up in my book.
Enough worms. I realize that's dominated my online conversation recently. What's on my agenda? Gotta' get a dumpster and get rid of all the old concrete in my back yard. It's been sitting there long enough. Make some room for the next round of yard work.
Not that I'm a conspiracy nut, but it is just a bit alarming to see a half-dozen black helicopters with machine gun turrets fly over your head. You'd think that they'd be a bit more sensitive to PR.
