Ah yes, in order to take market share from AOL one would have to have not just parental controls, but content for kids. Hmmm, where could you buy content for kids? Light bulb. Micky Mouse. Disney. Eisner. And so that's exactly what Billy the Gates the friggin' third does. But that's ok because I don't hold much AOL stock anymore, and what I have is barely worth the paper it's written on. McSoft has pumped years and as I recall about a billion dollars to crush awol. Wow. I just wanna' get off the grid and reduce the amount of money I send to Redmond. The only reason they aren't in jail is because well they're rich. Maybe others like me will slowly break from the stranglehold.

Then it hits me... thousands of under or unemployed programmers who hate McSoft. What are all those fingers doing to pass the time? Free software has always flourished during tech slumps. What do I have left that I can't get public domain? Good accounting software and pro music software. Anything else I can get free or live without. That's not asking too much. Linux is really almost there.

Then I start looking through some of my old data. Wow. I squirreled away a copy of Netscape version one. For Linux no less. There's no chance that a Windows version will still run on more modern systems but this one might just run. Version one was cool. No frames, no java. Oops, lessee, did they have tables yet? That could be a problem.
