MayDay!
Had a lot of quiet time at the business last month. That's not so good, but it's seasonal. April is always quiet. So I picked up a guitar and figured that I'd teach myself how to play upside down. Well actually right-side-up. I already play upside down. Been doing it almost 40 years now. It'll still be backwards either way. Got that?
But I've always been envious of Travis style finger-pickin'; and you just can't do it upside down - though I've found some impressive ways to get around the fact that the human hand is not symmetrical. So in the process of making my brain go backward I've rediscovered all the cool riffs that always gave me grief before. Incredibly simple if you play them just like everybody else does. Durn near impossible to play upside down and backward. Ah yes. But there's stuff that I can play with ease that would leave a right hander twitching in siezures. It all works out. But it would be nice to have it all, nesspa?
